Papa Was Right

My grandfather is one of those heroes in my life that has never made a mistake. Alright, he probably has but I only see his perfections. So that's why when I couldn't get any of my zucchini plants to produce an actual zucchini, I went to Papa. He told me to take a soft small bristle brush and to pollinate the flowers myself. As I expected, it worked! I now have three small vegetables growing on my largest plant and more flowers set to open that I will pollinate tomorrow.
Here's also a quick look at my small garden. I'm cramming it into the small area that we have fenced so that the dogs can't get to it. It is really small and some of the plants are way too close together but... you gotta do what you gotta do.

My cucumbers were also really slow to start and the small plants had actually started to turn white. I thought I had bought albino cucumbers or something but it turns out that they needed a necessary nutrient that I have since supplied. Now they are turning green again and growing!
The worst part of having a resident tomato lover (princess goofy girl) is that I have only tasted one cherry tomato off the vine myself. I have had over 20 start to turn yellowish red but they are gone within a blink of an eye. I see her jaw moving, grin on her face and I know that another one has bit the dust... or something like that. I have some big tomatoes that are finally starting to produce and I think I'm going to invest in some electric wire.... Just kidding. I wouldn't do that to my own child. Where can you buy electric wire at?

Of course in my garden, we also grow only the best princesses!

Summer Lovin'

I love Summer. The long days, the beautiful sun, the pools and splash pads, watermelon, strawberries. I just love it. The heat is kinda killing it for me this summer since I am a bit pregnant (a whale) but I still love it.

One of my favorite things about summer is that I stop cooking side dishes for summer and just go with fresh, raw produce. Does it get any better?

Then there's this goof who can make anyone smile....

The watermelon loving princess of the family.... who literally eats the rind down to the green part.

And the love of my life... mixed with the love of my favorite season and it's just magic....

and yes, he does look that good in person.
